The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has officially closed the Spartan Trail within the Central Cebu Protected Landscape until further notice.
Issued on September 21, 2026, the closure order allows authorities to investigate reported environmental violations and carry out necessary rehabilitation work in the area. Under Republic Act 9486 and Republic Act 11038, all entry, hiking, trekking, and recreational activities are strictly prohibited. Only authorized personnel involved in enforcement, monitoring, and rehabilitation are permitted to enter.
Hikers and visitors are advised to consider the Spartan Trail completely off-limits, avoid alternative entry points, and wait for an official reopening notice from authorities before planning future trips.
