Globe has launched its Starlink Satellite-to-Mobile service in the Philippines, allowing compatible Globe mobile subscribers to send SMS and access limited mobile data in areas without terrestrial cellular coverage. The service automatically activates only when no Globe network signal is available and a compatible device has a clear view of the sky.
As of the latest Globe announcement, the service is available through prepaid add-ons, including Globe Starlink 99, which provides 2 GB of satellite data and 100 SMS valid for 30 days, and Globe Starlink 299, which includes 10 GB of satellite data and 500 SMS valid for 90 days. Support is currently limited to selected Android devices, with iOS compatibility not yet available.
The service is intended for locations beyond the reach of conventional cellular towers, such as remote mountain trails, coastal areas, and other isolated environments. Compatible devices will automatically switch back to the Globe mobile network once terrestrial coverage becomes available.
