Kawasan Falls in Badian will remain open to visitors while the Cebu Provincial Government carries out a 110-million-peso rehabilitation program.
The restoration will be completed in phases so tourism activities and local livelihoods can continue throughout the project. The rehabilitation focuses on repairing areas damaged by previous disasters, including Typhoon Tino, with priority given to removing rocks and debris that were washed into the river system by floodwaters.
Provincial officials said the project aims to preserve Kawasan Falls’ natural environment while improving public safety for both residents and visitors. Kawasan Falls is one of Cebu’s most visited ecotourism destinations and provides an important source of income for many communities in Badian.
Rehabilitation work is expected to continue without requiring a full closure of the attraction.
