Why this trail is rated Mild
Route Description
The route follows a mostly straightforward community trail through Camp 7, Canapnapan 2, Canapnapan 3, Cabanbanan, and Upper Camp 8. The trail consists of steady climbs and descents across open farmland and rural landscapes, with frequent encounters with local residents.
Several sections provide mountain viewpoints along the route. The trail is non-technical, with the primary challenge coming from the repeated elevation changes rather than difficult terrain.
Hiking the loop in reverse results in a long, continuous climb beginning from the road junction toward Cabanbanan.
Trail Conditions
Conditions during the documented hike were sunny and dry. The trail was dry at the time but was observed to become very muddy after rain. Shade coverage was limited, and several stores were available near local communities.
Mobile signal was strong near the start and intermittent in some sections of the route. At least 1 liter of water was recommended. Many people were encountered during the hike, while insect activity was minimal.
Additional Notes
This is a community trail with homes scattered throughout the route and is not considered remote. The local residents, especially the children encountered during the hike, were observed to be friendly and helpful.
A hiking stick or trekking pole is recommended for hikers who are uncomfortable around dogs, as several dogs may be encountered along the route.
