Pangilatan Peak Loop | Cantao-an, Naga City | 2024 GPX

The Pangilatan Peak Loop is a documented 2.56 km loop hike in Cantao-an, Naga City. I followed a combination of community trails and concrete roads leading to Pangilatan Peak before returning to the starting point. The route was short, easy to follow, and passed through areas with regular local activity, making it one of the more accessible mountain hikes in the area.

I completed this hike in April 2024 under sunny morning conditions.

Access

I started at the foot of Pangilatan Peak, where motorcycle parking was available without a parking fee. The jump-off was accessible by concrete road, and private vehicles could reach the area. Public transportation was limited, although habal-habal services were available.

Route Description

I began by following established community trails that gradually climbed toward Pangilatan Peak. Navigation remained straightforward throughout the hike, with the summit only a short walk from the jump-off. After reaching the peak, I continued around the loop using a combination of trails and concrete roads before returning to the starting point.

The route connected with several other hiking trails around Cantao-an, making Pangilatan Peak a natural junction for longer hikes in the area. During my visit, I encountered local residents along the route and a few hikers near the summit.

Trail Conditions

The weather remained sunny throughout my hike. Much of the route had limited shade, while the trail stayed dry during my visit. Stores were available near the surrounding communities, and mobile signal remained strong from start to finish. Approximately 60% of the loop followed trails, while the remaining 40% used concrete roads. I noticed only a few insects during the hike.

Additional Notes

The jump-off was only a short distance from the summit, making Pangilatan Peak one of the easiest mountain viewpoints to reach in Naga City. The peak also has a campsite where hikers occasionally stay overnight. During favorable weather, a sea of clouds can sometimes form below, covering Barangay Guindaruhan.
